Character abilities: Explorers in Etrian Odyssey IV have a primary class and a subclass. With a subclass, the explorer can use that class's weaponry and armor, as well as learn the relevant skills. However, they can't use those skills as well as someone with that class as their primary class, and are also locked out of the Class skills (which provide bonuses of some sort such as reducing skill cooldown or increasing the damage of critical hits) or the sky skills (which usually have to do with food anyway). Runes - Daciana's primary class is Runemaster. She has impressive magical power backed up by high stores of TP but she's also... probably not the sturdiest ever (she's better than she could be, but it's still enough to be a point of concern). Runemasters use... well, runes to draw on and direct magical energy around them, using it to attack enemies with the elements and manipulate elemental affinities to some degree. Stronger than she seems - And while her primary class is the ultimate in Squishy Mage-dom, Daciana's subclass is Imperial--a heavily armored warrior specializing in use of a weapon called a Drive Blade. They're sturdier than Runemasters and are capable of inflicting massive amounts of damage. Honestly, the fact that she can lift a Drive Blade is probably a small miracle in and of itself.
